Reaping the Benefits of Breakfast

         ~The Mediterranean Way~

A recent study found that 92% of Americans agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet only 46% admit to eating breakfast seven days a week.

These findings (which come from the International Food Infomation Council (IFIC)) highlight the fact that often times even though people know what they should be eating, they don't do it.

Respondents cited 3 main reasons for not eating breakfast:

1. Not being hungry when they wake up,

2. Lack of time, and

3. Eating breakfast isn't convenient.

Studies show that eating breakfast may boost your energy, increase your mental focus, and help you maintain a healthy weight. See our healthy, easy Mediterranean-inspired breakfast ideas below to help you jump start your day with breakfast:

- Greek yogurt topped with granola and peach slices

- Whole grain cereal and low-fat milk

- Toast topped with hummus or cheese and pear slices

- Half a bagel topped with tomatoes and smoked salmon

- Breakfast burrito filled with hummus, eggs and avocado

- A power packed peanut butter and banana smoothie
